Barak Festival kicks off

A three-day district level cultural extravaganza "Barak Festival 2015" kicked off at Senapati public ground today evening, reports our correspondent.
Prominent leaders of different civil society organisations and tribe Hohos were also present at the inaugural programme.
Robert T Maram, convenor, programme committee, said that Senapati district has been in public domain for wrong reasons like bandh and blockade.
The cultural festival is to showcase the beautiful side of the district, its tradition and culture, he said.
The festival is to share a common platform to promote unity and live peacefully, he added.
The 2nd round of the Barak voice hunt organised by Senapati Music Society was also held.
The finalists will go through the 3rd round and the winners will subsequently get to perform in Barak Nite.
The three-day cultural festival will witness traditional folk dances, folk songs, war cry, tug of war, traditional fire making, blowing of horns, chorale, choreography, traditional show, Barak factor, pole climbing and indigenous games.
