Anal civil societies protest inclusion of Chandel villages into proposed Sugnu SDC circle

Chandel, December 10 2015:
A mass-slogan rally protesting against the State cabinet decision to include four tribal village in the proposed Sugnu SDC circle and concept paper on anti-erosion & flood control scheme submitted by MI department was held at District Headquarters Chandel on Thursday.
The protest rally was jointly organised by Anal Naga Tangpi (ANTA), Anallon Chiefs' Association (ACA) Anal Lenruwl tangpi (ALT) and Anal Sinnu Ruwl (ASR) .
Before the rally, a public meeting was also held at Indoor stadium wherein several protestors raised strong objections while addressing the meeting.
President of ANTA, Victor Kohring said the rally was held after the State Government had failed to address the rectified the alleged concept paper submitted by MI department which the civil societies have appealed.
He also criticized the state government for forceful attempt to amalgamate the Chandel tribal villages into Thoubal district.

'The proper inhabitants of Chandel village must refused to pay land revenue to SDC Waikhong Kanral said while chief of Toupokpi in his speech remarked, ' leave us alone and don't forced us to join in the proposed Sugnu SDC circle' .
Elected MDC Tongsin Willingson said, the state cabinet must revoke its decision saying that Toupokpi village having a proper village location code already belong to Chandel district.
Demanding revocation, ACA chairman Sng Lumdil in his statement said, Local MLAs and MDCs must take initiative and lead the people in fighting for justice.
During the rally hundreds of protestor shouted slogan denouncing and demanding withdrawal of the cabinet decision and befitting punishment against the Minor Irrigation officials for misappropriating public money.
They raised placard inscribe thereon 'We Want Justice', 'No tribal villages to New Sugnu SDC circle' and Rectify concept paper on anti erosion and flood control scheme 2014-15' .
The protestors marched towards the mini secretariat complex and submitted a memorandum addressed to the governor of Manipur under the aegis of Anal Civil societies and chiefs through the deputy commissioner of Chandel.
Chandel DC Robert Singh Kshetrimayum on received on the memorandum assured protestor of necessary action from his part as deputy commissioner.
