Chandel, November 08 2016:
Leaders of Kuki civil society organisations held a meeting in connection with the Assam Rifles' policy and programme to station KNA and UKLF in Moreh, reports our correspondent.
The policy of Assam Rifles has created a fear psychosis in the minds of the denizens of Moreh.
Assam Rifles, fully knowing the inevitable consequence that would follow when two rival armed groups come face to face, have without any consideration of taking both into confidence to resolve their differences, is now in the process of stationing both groups in Moreh and surrounding area despite of appeals from the public, Moreh CSOs stated.
Under such circumstance, the CSOs have resolved that unless the Assam Rifles brings an amicable understanding and settlement between Kuki National Army (KNA) and the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) and promises to ensure security to civilians, Moreh CSOs including Hill Tribal Council and all its 12 units, Kuki Women Union & Human Rights, Kuki Students' Organisation, Moreh and Moreh Youth Club have unanimously decided to resign from their assigned responsibilities with immediate effect and that unwanted incidents that may arise due to AR's policy and programme shall be the sole responsibility of the Assam Rifles.
