Imphal, April 07 2013 :
A sit-in demonstration was staged at Rani Gaidinliu Bazar near Loktak Power Station yesterday to demand safe and early release of school girl Alice Kamei, from the custody of the proscribed RPF/PLA.
People belonging to different communities settled in and around Loktak Project took part at the protest demonstration, jointly organised by Zeliangrong Youth Front (Churachandpur Zone), Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur and women organisations.
Speaking to newspersons on the sidelines of the demonstration, an elderly woman participant called upon the outfit to ensure safe release of Alice Kamei at the earliest possible.
Even though Alice might have approached the armed group the fact that she is only 14 years old, and thus not mature enough to understand what she has done, should be taken into account, opined the woman and appealed to the outfit to enable the girl continue her study.
Alice is the eldest of two siblings born to Punsijao and Sundari Kamei of Chingphu village under Bishnupur district.
She along with her Grace Reach Academy, Hiyanglam school-mate Sanahanbi Khaidem were reported as missing from their hostel room.
The RPF/PLA claiming both to be in its custody had already clarified that the girls approached the outfit on their own volition.
On the otherhand, Punsijao kamei expressed that the State Government should take all possible measures to secure safe release of Alice.
He also called upon RPF/PLA to release the girl without any condition.
