Stop campaigning on communal lines: Rameshwar

Keirao AC MLA Lourembam Rameshwar has urged all intending candidates not to campaign for votes on communal lines, but on the idea of competing based on development.
On Friday, Urup Keirao Muslim Youth Development Committee and Keirao Kendra Muslim Development Committee jointly organised a function at Urup Awang Leikai to felicitate MLA Rameshwar who was recently conferred the Babu Jagjivan International Award 2021 .
Speaking on the occasion, Rameshwar noted that Keirao AC is predominantly inhabited by 6 different communities, who have co-existed rather complicatedly amidst the backwardness of the constituency.
However, the conditions of the AC have been improving steadily since he was elected as its representative.
He continued that the health facilities in the constituency are much better compared to other constituencies.
Although majority of the population is below poverty line, the denizens are always united and work together, thereby making Keirao a model constituency.
The MLA then said that many people including a patient from Thiyam Konjil, who had been suffering from kidney ailments, have been able to completely recover through his help in the form of monetary assistance.
His wish is to treat fellow human beings without any discrimination or prejudices.
Thus, he urged for abandoning family and communal politics and instead steer the.political wind to the direction of development of the constituency.
On the other hand, expressing his disappointment on learning that there are no proper grounds in the AC despite the presence of many talented sportspersons; Rameshwar assured to construct an international level ground in the constituency, along with a mosque for the people.
The MLA also urged all concerned not to spread false news that the delimitation exercise will result in loss of the Keirao AC's land area, while adding that he will try his best to ensure the total area of the constituency remains intact.
Later, MLA Rameshwar honoured the four police personnel from Urup who assisted Imphal East Narcotics Cell in seizure of drugs worth Rs 90 crore, with simple gifts as encouragement.
