IN CONNECTION with the International Human Rights Day on December 10, a photo exhibition on theme "Crime against humanity" will be organized by the Threaten Indigenous People's Society at the Manipur Central Youth Club ground at Keishampat junction.
The three-day exhibition (from December 10 to 13) will be opened by state education minister L Jayentakumar as chief guest, said general secretary of the TIPS, Tondon Asemcha at a press conference held at its office at New Checkon today.
Others dignitaries to be present in the function are retired justice C Upendro, deputy director, News, AIR, Imphal BB Sharma, political science department, MU, Dr Dhanabir Laishram, HERICON president, Rev Rehang Chothe, NIPCO, president Y Nabachandra, ASRDCWA vice president M Rameshwor, FRIENDS, general secretary, Joy Chingakham and Peace Foundation, managing trustee, Irom Shinghajit, he said.
The inaugural function of the day will be marked by observation of the two minute silent observation to mark a respect to those who had been lost and those living with scars in acts of violation of human rights.
An indigenous calendar will also be published on the occasion, the general secretary said.
As a part of the function, Ch Manoranjan, convener of the Lainingthou Sanamahi Fad and Research Forum will talk on "Globalization and positive impact to our identities and advocate Angomcha Aramba will deliver a speech on Universal declaration of human rights and humanism.
The secretary also while stating that the photo exhibition is to be held on the theme "Crime against humanity" appealed the media persons of both print and electronic to contribute photos related with the theme.
He also said that the first, second and third position holders of the exhibition will be awarded Rs 5000, Rs.3000 and Rs.2000 respectively.
There will be five consolation prizes, he added.
Willing persons can submit related photos copies of size 10 x 12 to the office of the TIPS on or before December 12.Entry form can also be had from its office, he said.
