MANIPUR CHIEF Minister Okram Ibobi has extended his heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur particularly the Muslim brethen on the occasion of Id-ul-Zuha which falls on December 9, i.e.tomorrow.
(In yesterday's edition of this newspaper, it was inadvertently reported that the Holy Day falls today, i.e.December 8 which stands corrected).
In a message of greetings, the Chief Minister stated that Id-ul-zuha reminds the people of the supreme sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim for the sake of mankind.
"Let this sacrifice inspire us to dedicate ourselves to all causes that are good and noble and work for the betterment of humanity at large.
May the occasion also spread the message of friendship and forgiveness among the people for a more peaceful and prosperous Manipur," Ibobi stated in his message.
Manipur Assembly Speaker Dr S Budhichandra, in his message to the people, specially the Muslim brethren, hoped that the holy festival would increase love, sacrifice, harmony and unity among the people of the state irrespective of caste and creed.
Inner Manipur MP, Dr T Meinya and President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee and MLA Gaikhangam have also extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur, specially the Muslim community on the occasion of the Id-ul-zuha festival.
In another message of greetings, President of the Minority cell of Manipur People's Party, Md Aurangazeb hoped that the holy festival would bring peace, love and harmony in Manipur irrespective of faith and community.
Md Aurangazeb also appealed to the youths not to indulge in immoral behavious specially on this day.
The Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol, (CADA), Manipur also conveyed its warm greetings to the Muslim brethren of the state on the occasion of eid-ul Adzha.
Secretary, Information and Publicity, CADA, Farooq Khullakpam stated that the festival spreads the message of love, peace and co-existence without fear.
As prophet Mohammed wished, following the teachings of Holy Quraan, let the people stay for away from activities which are against the Islam religion and the society.
The CADA also appealed to the people, specially the youths of all communities to stay away from partying using any kind of intoxicant.
If anyone or some people are found partying in the name of celebrating the festival by boozing and abusing drugs, let the branch unit or district committee or the head quarter of CADA be informed immediately, mobile number 9862740812 of the Publicity section of CADA has been kept open 24 hours, Farooq Khullakpam stated.
