An investiture ceremony in honour of all the Assam Rifles personnel who have been awarded President police medal for Gallantry, President police Medal for Meritorious service, Governor's Gold Medal and Governor's Silver Medal was hosted at 39 Assam Rifles, Mantripukhri today.
Altogether 26 ranks of IGAR (South) had been conferred with different awards for displaying bravado, ensuring peace, harmony and territorial integrity in Manipur.
The awards include four President Police Medals for Gallantry/Meritorious Service, 12 Governor's Gold Medals and 10 Governor's Silver Medals.
Handing over the awards, IGAR (South) Major General AK Choudhary, SM, VSM, who presided over the ceremony, complemented all the awardees and said they have excelled in executing the task assigned to them in their respective field of duty.
Hoping that these awards should motivate others to strive for excellence in their duty, the Major General observed that Assam Rifles personnel would continue to work in the same manner in the highest tradition of the force as 'Friends of the North East people'.
He also explained that the three major strategies undertaken by the Assam Rifles are to neutralise militants, booking all the suspects for intensive interrogation and giving or extending all possible help to the citizens with sincerity through Military Civic Action programmes.
The investiture ceremony was attended by many ranks and files of Assam Rifles and DIGs posted in different parts of the State of Manipur.
