The Development Comittee displayed the tall and majestic looking animals to curious crowds including media persons at the ground of Ever Blooming School at Yairipok Changamdabi this morning.
The camels were given away to the inhabitants of six Muslim villages in the constituency namely, Yairipok Changamdabi, Yairipok Ningthounai, Laikom, Laimana Muslim, Tulihal Toupokpi and Ngariyan Muslim village.
Extolling the magnanimity of Deputy Speaker Shyamkumar, Md Fakhruddin told reporters that this is going to be the first time that the Muslim inhabitants of Andro AC would be able to perform Qurban on the camels which are considered the most prized and important animal for the Muslim community specially in connection with the religious festivals like Id-ul-Zuha.
This is because of the generosity of a leader like Shyamkumar who looks at all people equally irrespective of caste and creed, Fakhruddin said.
In the Arabian countries, one kilogram of camel meat is said to be priced at Rs 600/700 .
Pradhan of Changamdabi Gram Panchayat, Md Kamaluddin took significant role in bringing the six camels to Manipur in time before the holy festival of Id-ul-Zuha, Md Fakhruddin said.
The animals arrived in Manipur yesterday.
Interestingly, a large number of Meetei Muslims, from children to old persons from different Muslim villages in Andro AC came to see the beautiful animals to their hearts' content before they make a delectable feast of the creatures tomorrow on the occasion of Id-ul-Zuha.
Many Muslim men and women expressed happiness on the thought that they would have a sumptuous feast which includes a divine dish of camel meat.
