Solution to Naga issue will benefit all: NPF

Imphal, October 20 2021: Naga People's Front (NPF) Central secretary general Achumbemo Kikon has asserted that the ongoing Indo-Naga political issue once resolved will benefit other communities and help in resolving other political conflicts.

Speaking at a press conference held at Hotel Classic Grande here on Wednesday, Achumbemo iterated that the party stands for peace and harmony in the North Eastern states by bringing solution to not only Naga political issue but also to all other political conflicts in the region.

Stating that he is visiting Manipur to mobilise party functionaries and to strengthen organisational set-up, the secretary general also exuded confidence of the NPF winning more assembly seats in the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections 2022.The NPF leader also noted that relationship between hills and valley has improved drastically after NPF supported the BJP led government apart from providing political stability.

To a query on pre-poll alliance, Achumbemo Kikon informed that any such political decisions will only be taken by the party's Central Office Headquarters, Kohima.

"The question of continuing to support the present coalition government or alliance with political parties in the coming assembly elections or after the election will be discussed and decided by the Central Headquarters," he said.

Achumbemo Kikon on reaching Imphal met NPF Manipur leaders and party legislators including forest minister Awangbow Newmai, PHE minister Losii Dikho, HAC chairman Leishiyo Keishing and MLA Khasim Vashum.

The surprise visit has come as part of preparation for the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly Election slated to be held early next year along with assessing political developments happening in Manipur recently where NPF has expressed unhappiness over the lack of seriousness in coalition partnership with BJP led government.

During his meeting with party leaders, he called upon the NPF grassroots level workers, district, state and legislators' wings to beef up their activities for the crucial upcoming elections which is likely to be held in February-March next year.
