Security meet held, contraband items seized

Churachandpur Battalion of IGAR (S) coaducted a security meet with village administration of Parbung village to build synergy with locals and sensitise them on various measures undertaken by Assam Rifles to maintain peace and tranquility in the area.
A tree plantation drive was also organised with students and locals of Taithu village to promote'ecological conservation and motivate them to play a pivotal role in the development of the country, informed a release issued by PRO IGAR (S).
Meanwhile, Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (S) recovered cigarettes, Godzilla (mosquito) coils, betel nuts and cosmetic items approximately worth Rs 3.84 lakh near Khudengthabi on October 18.According to the PRO, troops of Assam Rifles carried out an operation during which individuals ferrying the contraband items fled on seeing the troops and left behind the packages containing cigarettes, Godzilla coils, betel nuts and cosmetic items.
The recovered items have been handed over to Customs department for further action, it added.
