Tarao conference concludes

Imphal, January 10 2014 :
The 18th General Conference of Tarao Tribe Union, Manipur concluded at Bukthrol (Tarao Laimanai) Village in Chandel District today.
The valedictory function was graced by St.
Nunghlung Victor, MLA of 41-Chandel A/C as Chief Guest, M.Rumshe, Former President of Tarao Tribe Union, Manipur as Functional President while Maj.
Veresh, Bongjang Post Commander of 20 AR and A.Khellendro, Officer in Charge Pallel Police Station as special invitees.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA St.
Nunghlung Victor said that the people of Tarao Tribe should not be disheartened for being the smallest tribe.
Because every tribe, even the smallest, have equal rights and enjoyed it equally in our country.
He further said that a tribe is not merely known by its population but by the quality of its people.
Therefore, the people of Tarao tribe should lay emphasis on producing good qualities younger generations besides preserving their own cultures so that the world can recognised them.
During the four-day long conference, many competitions including cultural dances, folk songs were held with an objective to preserve and promote the distinct culture of Tarao tribe.
Games and sports activities are other highlights of the conference.
