Imphal, January 08 2022:
Vehicles coming from Assam side along with passengers without possessing RTPCR negative result were briefly halted at Jiri Bridge on Saturday early morning.
Later, they were allowed to enter Manipur with the permission of authority concerned following conduct of RAT test.
Speaking to media persons at AMSU district committee Jiribam office, JCILPS Jiri branch convenor Yurembam Sanjiv noted out that an order was issued by department of health services to allow entry of only those passengers who possess RTPCR negative result taken within 48 hours.
Acting on the order, Jiribam district police halted several people including passenger carriers coming from Assam towards Manipur for not possessing Covid-19 negative result.
However, as there is no facility for conducting RTPCR in Jiribam, higher authority after considering the situation allowed conduct of RAT around 7 am and permitted passengers who tested negative for Covid-19 to enter Manipur, he stated.
Sanjiv further informed that a team led by DSP Jiribam Sanasam Gourachan inspected the situation and made the people who were stranded on the Assam side of Jiri Bridge to understand the situation.
