72 hrs State wide bandh from July 2

Imphal, June 30 2018:
The JAC Against Forced Construction of Mapithel Dam (AFCMD) along with CSOs and the affected individuals have decided to impose the proposed 72 hour Statewide bandh from the midnight of July 2 as the Government has failed to give any positive responses to the demands included in the ultimatum served by 22 organizations in connection with the construction of Mapithel Dam/Thoubal Multipurpose Project.
Convenor of the JAC, LM Thanmi reminded that a joint memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister, Governor and the Chief Minister in connection with the issue on February 28, however no response was received.
He further informed that 22 civil organizations, including the JAC Against Forced Construction of Mapithel Dam (AFCMD) and MDAVHCEO had served an ultimatum to the CM on June 2, setting a deadline of 30 days.
The JAC has decided to impose 72 hrs Statewide bandh from the midnight of July 2 which is endorsed by TNL, TMNL, TSL, TNWL, TKS, ATSUM, ATCAM-IP, TYCM, TYCOM, LWU, TAKL, ZTKL, TKLI, KSO, NPMHR(S), MDAVHCEO, TRPFM, AMUCO, CORE, PCTM, HHF and JAC-AFCMD.
