Meitei Mayek Research Centre Malom has urged the State Government to include funds for development of Manipuri language in the State budget at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club yesterday, the president of the centre Tongbram Mahendra Meetei said that Meitei Mayek Research Centre has already been recognised by the State Government as a competent authority working for the development and improve of Manipuri language and Meitei Mayek.
However, till date, the State Government has failed to sanction any forms of fund to the centre, he claimed.
Even if the State Government was repeatedly urged, no positive steps have been taken up till date.
He urged the State Government to include Rs 5,47,72,957 in the State budget and make the centre fully functional at the earliest.
