Imphal, May 22 2010:
Continuing with the initiative of airlifting essential commodities, diesel and rice were brought to Imphal by cargo planes today.
Indian Air Force aircraft IL-76 made two trips between Guwahati and Imphal this morning and afternoon bringing 24 kilolitres of diesel twice.
Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Commissioner P Vaiphei and IOC Deputy Manager KI Singh supervised the diesel brought by the Air Force aircraft at Tulihal Airport.
Moreover, a cargo plane of the IAF made three sorties to and from Imphal bringing 5 metric tonnes of rice in each trip.
