Imphal, May 22 2010:
With the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) giving its green signal, nightlanding of planes at Tulihal Airport could be started at any time soon.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, an official source informed that in response to the letter of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh to Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel on May 20, DGCA has given the approval for introducing night-landing facilities.
The DGCA had given the approval in writing through the Chairman of Airport Authority of India on May 20 itself, the source added.
Accordingly, necessary preparations for nightlanding of the Indian Air Force planes as well as that of Indian Airlines are underway.
The development has come about after Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh announced introduction of nightlanding facilities at Tulihal Airport in his last visit.
