Two members of a vehicle lifters' gang have been apprehended by private security guards of RIMS from within the medical institute's complex.
RIMS security guards rounded up two people walking in a suspicious manner near RIMS mortuary at about 2.30 this morning.
The duo, who have been subsequently handed over to police have been identified as Nongmaithem Suraj (28) s/o Sobha of Ningthemcha Karong and Kongkham Dhanachandra (27) s/o Manihar of Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai.
One kitchen knife was also recovered from their possession.
It is reported that the duo have confessed to have lifted five vehicles including four wheelers from RIMS complex on an earlier occasion.
They also disclosed about selling off two stolen Honda Activas to two residents of Kongba and Heirangoithong.
One Maruti car was also sold to an individual of Malom.
Both the vehicle lifters have been handed over to Lamphel police station.
