Absence of doctor in the two Primary Health Sub-Centres located in between Sekmaijin and Khordak Ichin is said to be causing numerious difficulties to the people of these area.
Over and above this, deplorable condition of the road and bridges and lack of basic facility for education are contributing to miseries of the people.
Located within Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency, the distance between Sekmaijin and Khordak Ichin is around 17 kms and the total population of the people is said to be around 20,000 .
In connection with the difficulties being faced by the people, a joint meeting of 21 clubs of the area was convened at the Mantripukhri residence of social worker Manoj today.
Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, secretary of Phoubakchao Youth Club Md Rahaman informed that there are only two Primary Health Sub-Centres in between Sekmaijin and Khordak Ichin.
One is at Komlakhong and the other is at Laphupat.
However, there are no doctor in these health centres, he maintained.
He also informed that there are no Government educational institution up to the level of high school and higher secondary school in these areas, thereby causing lot of difficulties among the people.
All these problems have been brought to the notice of the Government on numerous occasions.
However, there has been no positive response from the side of the Government to ameliorate grievances of the people, he lamented.
So today's meeting decided to form a joint body of all the local clubs for exerting pressure upon the Government to take up necessary developmental work.
Furthermore, it has been decided that only those representatives who can work for the welfare of the people should be elected, he affirmed during the media briefing.
Social worker Manoj also alleged that the local MLA does not care about the development of the rural area.
