Imphal, March 27, 2014:
A consultative meeting of All Tribal Chiefs' Forum, Manipur (ATCFM) held on March 24 at Hotel Imphal has unanimously resolved to oppose Congress candidates of both Inner and Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in the upcoming 16th Lok Sabha Elections 2014 on several grounds.
The meeting observed that 50, 25 and 25 percent of the MGNREGS funds are allotted to the Village Authorities, District Councils and Line-Department respectively instead of allotting the whole funds for implementation to the Village Authorities concerned under the State Government and also no financial power has been given to the Autonomous District Councils in spite of the Third Amendment of the Manipur Hill Areas District Council Act, 1971 in 2008. Furthermore, the meeting decided to impose 12 hours hills area bandh from 6 am to 6 pm of April 3 in support of the points adopted in the meeting.
Medical, education, fire service and religious matter will be exempted from the purview of the bandh.
