Imphal, November 23 2013 :
The MPP today alleged that O Ibobi Government is indisposed to discuss anything over the recent brutal killing of the party's vice president Haobijam Manisana therefore the party as well as the people are judging that the Congress Government is involved in the murder plot.
Murdering a leader of a political party is akin to attacking at democracy and not being constructive to look into the terrible incident by the state Government shows its crude trait, H Nabashyam, spokesperson, Manipur People's Party accused while talking to the media at the party office here.
MPP has called for a serious talk on the incident, but the Chief Minister is not listening to it even with three times of request made through letters and phone calls this month, he said.
The regional party has claimed that intelligence inputs were received on the assassination threat against Manisana well before his killing and this intelligence was also shared with DGP of Manipur Police.
Nabashyam said appropriate security arrangements could have saved the life of the MPP leader who was shot dead by unknown people at Changangei Airport Road on November 13 .
Information on assassination threats against MPP president N Sovakiran too was given to the party leadership by a responsible Government official a week ago, he said.
The Government has not yet taken any security measure to protect the life of the MPP president too till now, Nabashyam further said, accusing the Government of attempting to wipe out the party forever.
Then again, he added, almost all the underground outfits in the state have made clarifications in all the local dailies that they did not kill Manisana.
Declining the party's request by the Government to hold a talk on the matter has also prompted the joint action committee (JAC) for Manisana killing and the party to think that the Government is trying to sideline the issue and inviting agitation, the MPP spokesperson lamented.
He also said MPP highly condemns the way the state Government is handling the issue.
