Imphal, December 27 2021:
Social and Educational Welfare Organisation (SEWO) Manipur has strongly condemned the suspicious death of Nargish (20) d/o Md Ahamed Ali and Mumtaj from Lilong Makha Leikai and urged the Government to apprehend the culprits responsible for her death and dole out appropriate punishment to these criminals.
As per a statement released today from SEWO, Nargish went missing on December 22 and her dead body was subsequently found on December 27 by residents of the locality.
It may be noted that she had been strangled with a men's khudei and her body bore signs of being brutally tortured, the statement added.
President of SEWO, Yahser Kori stated that these kinds of atrocious acts of violence against women continue to happen because the authorities refrain from doling out capital punishment to the perpetrators.
He further urged the Govt to introduce a new law that will safeguard women and appealed to the CSOs across the State to lend their support in unveiling the truth regarding the suspicious death of Nargish.
SEWO also informed that they will stand in support of any agitation or resolution taken up by the JAC formed in connection with Nargish's death.
