Thoubal, December 27 2021:
Though the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre came to power in 2014 and initiated various development schemes and projects, development process in Manipur got delayed as the Congress ruled the state during that time, alleged Union external affairs and education minister of state Dr RK Ranjan.
Dr Ranjan made the accusation during distribution function of health cards under Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY and cooking gas under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana organised by BJP Wangkhem Mandal at Dr Nimaichand Luwang's residence at Yairipok Bishnunaha on Monday.
Speaking as chief guest of the distribution event, Dr RK Ranjan contended that more than 180 schemes including welfare for the people have been launched and benefited people across the country ever since the Narendra Modi-led government came to power in 2014 .
Unfortunately, benefits of these schemes did not reach the people of Manipur as the state was ruled by Congress before the BJP-led coalition government wrested power in 2017, he said, adding that Congress played cheap politics to deny people of the state benefits of the Centrally-sponsored schemes.
The scheme benefits reached the targeted section of the population only after formation of the BJP led government, he claimed.
Beneficiaries in other states have already been given cooking gas under Ujjwala Yojana but the scheme was extended to Ujjwala Yojana 2.0 after BJP Thoubal district and BJP Wangkhem Mandal lodged a written complaint to the Centre, he said and appealed to people to extend support to the party which brought positive changes in the country.
During the event, BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson Dr Nimaichand Luwang said that people of the state could not avail benefits of Central government sponsored schemes in the past but they are now aware of the schemes with the coming of BJP government.
The event was also attended by BJP Wangkhem Mandal president L Sunil Meetei, BJP Thoubal district president Yumnam Kumarjit and DSO Thoubal Md Najamuddin.
Altogether 329 beneficiaries of Wangkhem AC were provided Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY health cards, and cooking gas to 84 families during the event.
