Imphal, December 27 2021:
A silent sit in protest was staged at the Tiddim Service Station, Keishampat against the shifting of Indian Oil Assam Oil Division/Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOAOD/IOCL), Imphal Divisional Retail Sales Office to Tezpur in Assam by the IOCL retail outlets.
It may be noted that the Executive Director of IOAOD/IOCL of Guwahati had stated about shifting of IOAOD/IOCL, Imphal Divisional Retail Sales Office during the Dealers' Convention held at Imphal earlier and subsequently the State Coordinator of Imphal Divisional Retail Sales Office have been informed regarding the matter.
In view of the numerous impacts the State will face if the said office is shifted from Imphal, the All Manipur IOCL Retail Outlet Dealers Association (AMIRODA) had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister few days back urging to take up measures to prevent the shifting of the office from Imphal.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest, Advisor of AMIRODA, O Nabakishore said that based on the marketing plans of the office which was opened at Imphal in 1990, numerous petrol pumps have been opened across the State even in the remote areas to ensure that the locals receive quality maintained petroleum and allied products.
He also highlighted that the shifting of the office will pose a major hurdle in the functioning of the petrol pumps in the State whenever a problem or crisis arises.
In context with the Ujjwala scheme taken up by the Government, he maintained that the implementation of the scheme in the State will be hampered considerably if the IOAOD/IOCL, Imphal Divisional Retail Sales Office is shifted.
Considering the aforementioned problems, he urged the Chief Minister and MPs to intervene and take up the matter to the Ministry of Petroleum to ensure that the said office is not shifted from Imphal in the interest of all.
