Missing girl found dead

Imphal, December 27 2021:
A 20-year old girl identified as Korimayum Nargish d/o K Ahmed Ali of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai who had been missing since December 22 was found dead on the bank of Imphal River near the bridge which connects Lilong to Samurou.
According to information culled from the spot, CCTV footage showed the girl leaving her house at around 8.26 pm of December 22 .
Thinking that the girl might have eloped, the family waited for news of the same till the afternoon of December 23 .
However, as no information was received, the family filed a missing report at Lilong police station.
But the girl was found dead on the river bank at around 8 am today.
The body was found tied to a tree with a cloth.
Soon after discovery of the dead body, Lilong police was informed.
Later, a team of Forensic Science Laboratory came and inspected the site where the dead body was found.
The dead body was taken to JNIMS morgue.
Nargish had recently given BA 6th semester exam at Lilong Haoreibi College.
Later in the afternoon, a public meeting was held at Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai where several resolutions were adopted including constitution of JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Korimayum Nargish (20) .
Condemning the alleged murder in the strongest term, the meeting resolved to urge the authorities concern to book the culprits within 48 hours.
The meeting further resolved to launch different types of agitation in association with local clubs/organisations, CSOs and Meira Paibis if the authorities fail to book the culprits within 48 hours.
The meeting also decided not to claim the body of Nargish until the culprits are booked and make sure that post mortem process is captured in video.
