Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, MP of Lok Sabha Thangso Baite and others have conveyed their greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights, which is to be celebrated tomorrow.
In his message, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh reminded that Diwali festival commemorates Lord Rama's return to his kingdom of Ayodhya after completing 14 years' exile.
It is a festival symbolizing the victory of good over evil and people celebrate the festival by illuminating their homes to dispel darkness and to evoke the blessing of Goddess Lakshmi.
"Let us celebrate this festival in its true spirit with care and concern for others.
May the festival bring peace, prosperity and happiness in our lives", the Chief Minister wished.
Conveying his greetings to the people, MP of Lok Sabha Thangso Baite pointed out that Diwali, the festival of light and happiness is being celebrated throughout the length and breadth of the country.
''May this year's Diwali be a landmark and transitional festival in bringing peace, harmony and prosperity'', the MP also wished.
President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee Gaikhangam has also extended his greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali and observed that it is a festival that symbolizes triumph of good over evil.
He also wished the festival would usher in an era of peace and development with no room for senseless violence.
On the other hand, Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) has wished all the people of Manipur a glorious Happy Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba.
May the Goddess of wealth bestows all her blessings on the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali and may this year's Ningol Chakkouba strengthen the bond amongst all the brothers and sisters both from the hills and the valley, and bring peace to Manipur, Spokesperson of MSCP Vivekraj Wangkhem said in a statement.
He also wished the festival would usher in an era of peace and development with no room for senseless violence.
The President of Manipur State Janata Party (MSJP) Sapam Samungou Singh has also conveyed his warmest Diwali greetings to the people of Manipur.

The IGAR (S) also sent his message of peace, harmony, unity and understanding to the people and wished, "May the festival brings goodwill and harmony to all, irrespective of caste, creed and faith" .
