State PWD minister, K Ranjit today appealed the protesting Senapati District Students' Association to suspend their chakka bandh began from last midnight informing that the improvement works of the stretch of the NH-39 from Senapati to Mao commenced.
The improvement works of the stretch from Senapati to Mao has began.
The same is targeting to complete by March or April this year.
Keeping this mind, the protesting SDSA is appealed to withdraw its chakka band and other forms of stir, Ranjit speaking at the third annual conference of the Mayang Imphal Kendra Block Congress Committee today.
Further speaking in the conference held at the community hall at Mayang Imphal Konchak as chief guest, the minister said Union surface transport ministry has released Rs 39 crore for the improvement of the stretch of the highway.
Another fund of Rs 12 crore for improvement works from Senapati to Imphal had already sanctioned to bring the total fund released fund available for the road to Rs 51 crore.
However the physical works for the improvement delayed in opening tender which two farms, BRO and a farm based in Nagaland submit applications.
He also informed the gathering that fund for taking up improvement works of the Imphal-Moreh section of the same highway also sanctioned.
But the works has been delayed as some matter in the revised work estimate by the state government is yet to finalize.
The same will be finalized soon after a meeting is convened, he added.
