Alleging that SDO, Kasom Khullen failed to distribute funds of the Indira Awaj Yojna (IAY) to the beneficiaries even though the funds had already been released, Wungnaosang Keishing, MLA of Phungyar Assembly Constituency today said that action would be taken up against him.
The MLA, speaking at the five day long 22nd General Conference cum Sports Meet of the Tangkhul Naga Valley Students Association held at Ramarei village in Ukhrul district, alleged that the funds for 43 beneficiaries under the scheme had already been released around one month back but the SDO, Shyamchandra Sharma failed to hand over the amount to the beneficiaries till date.
Wungnaosing warned that action will be initiated against the SDO concerned under the law if he fails to release the fund to the beneficiaries within the next five day.
In this connection, the MLA said that he will also take the help of the NGOs.
Moving on, the MLA urged the Tangkhul people to preserve the traditional culture of the tribe lauding the participants for wearing traditional attires on the occasion.
"We should protect and preserve the culture of our own so as to pass it down to our future generations.
We should also respect the tradition and culture of other tribes and communities," he told all those who had gathered there from 28 Tangkhul villages.
All communities and tribes residing together in the state should respect the tradition and culture each other.
Age old folk songs and folklore inherented from the forefathers should also be preserved, he urged.
Many dignitaries attending the concluding function of the five day General Conference cum Sport Meet spoke on the occasion which was marked by performance of dance, song etc.
Around 2500 people coming from 24 villages took part in the congregation.
The event will conclude on February 3 next.
