The 22nd Raising Day Celebration of 31 Batallion, Assam Rifles was held at the Helipad Ground of Moreh today.
The Celebration was attended by community leaders, Meira Paibis, Kuki Women and Human Rights Union and members of the media.
In the function, Col Ravroop, CO 31 Assam Rifles exhorted all ranks of 31 AR to act in people's friendly way and not to hurt the sentiments of Moreh people in the coming years.
In his speech he also thanked all the community leaders and leaders of the various associations of vehicles plying in Moreh for participating in the function.
Later, CO Col.Ravroop Singh, all ranks of 31 Assam Rifles and Community leader participated in a dance.
Today's function concluded with a grand feast.
The 22nd Raising Day Celebration will go on tomorrow also, which will feature traditional folk dance and folk song.
The programme wcich will be held in the evening will be attended by senior officers of AR.
The CO appealed to all to participate in tomorrow's programme.
Meanwhile a press release from the PRO IGAR (S) adds, 31 Assam Rifles raised on February 1, 1988 at Saitual Mizoram is celebrating its 23rd Raising Day on February 1 During its 22 years of chequered history the unit has performed with commendable grit and determination in all spheres, be it operations, training or administration.
The unit was recently awarded with GOC-in-C Eastern Command Unit Citation to add to the Chief of Army Staff Unit Citation the unit had won earlier making it one of the few units to boast of such rare honour and distinction.
In addition, the unit has also won two Shaurya Chakras, four Sena Medals, one VSM and a large number of other gallantry awards and medals.
