Imphal, January 31 2010:
A state level seminar on identifying state flag of Manipur (Kangleipak) organised by International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) today suggested the need of a thorough scientific research before coming to conclusion on the state flag.
The seminar which was opened with titular king Sanajaoba Leishemba was attended by head of history department of Manipur University Prof N Sanajaoba and IPSA advisor H Ibotombi as guest of honour and president.
Former principal of NG College Kangjiya Mangang moderated the technical session of the seminar in which senior lecturer Dr TB Singh, Dr N Deben, director of Mutuwa Museum, Mutuwa Bahadur and Ng Khomba participated as resource persons.
The seminar came to the conclusion that the state which was called as Kangleipak during king rule had its own national flag and emblem even though it was different from king to king.
Despite the different, there had a common feature and characteristic.
Today's generation need to explore the common feature and characteristic of the national flag and preserved it for the future generation, the seminar felt.
Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function, Sanajaoba observed that when Manipur was independent princely state, it had its own culture, tradition, language, scripts, flag and emblem.
But today's generation forgot it and received the foreign cultures considering it as development.
