Death toll reaches 2000, eight cases detected

Imphal, December 24 2021:
One death case and eight fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported on Friday out of 962 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 0.83 per cent against 1.19 per cent recorded on Thursday.
The lone death case reported on Friday was an unvaccinated resident of Imphal West district and it took the number of fatalities from Covid-19 in the state to 2000 .
The active caseload came down to 186 out of which 30 (16.13 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information on bed availabilities in hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only three reported fresh Covid cases on Friday.
So far, the state has recorded 96,293 positive cases and 1626 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 488 new positive cases and 23 fatalities out of which 96 new cases and 7 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 8 new positive cases (3 male & 5 female) are from among the general population and their samples were confirmed at RIMS (1), JNIMS (1) and other testing centres (6) .
The positive cases are from Imphal West (5), Bishnupur (2) and Churachandpur (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 13 patients were discharged from home isolation (7), JNIMS (2) and CCCs (4).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,25,693 (general population -1,21,259 and CAPF personnel - 4,434) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,23,507 (general population - 1,19,079 and CAPF personnel - 4,428) and number of active cases is 186 (general population - 185 and CAPF personnel - 1) .
The recovery rate is 98.26 per cent.
A total of 237 D-type and 21 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, only 3932 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 13,17,399 including 9,72,324 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (44,114), Imphal East (27,927), Thoubal (9490), Churachandpur (10,192), Kangpokpi (2793), Tamenglong (3284), Bishnupur (9236), Senapati (2249), Ukhrul (2998), Kakching (6450), Chandel (2366), Noney (1076), Tengnoupal (1077), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (955) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (670), Imphal East (479), Thoubal (179), Churachandpur (163), Kangpokpi (62), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (194), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (44); Kakching (115), Chandel (41), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,507 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,837 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,68,371 tests per million population against the nationalaverage of 4,78,431 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 962 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 0.83 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 8.65 per cent.
