MU Inter-College Literary Meet commences

The 18th Manipur University Inter-College Literary Meet, 2013 commenced from today at the Centenary hall of the university with retired Session Judge C Upendra as Chief Guest.
Speaking at the inaugural function organized under the aegis of the Organising Committee of the Literary Meet, C Upendra stated that organizing such literary meets where students are made to take part in poem recitation and song competition is indeed a good thing for the student community.
Today literature has become so important in our everyday life and has the power to imbibe a sense of nationalism in the minds and hearts of the people, he said.
He also pointed out the need to discuss over the present border fencing issue along the Indo-Myanmar border at Moreh.
RK Yaiskul, Additional Director, Higher and Technical Education (U), who was also present on the occasion as Guest of Honour, stated that apart from gaining bookish knowledge, students should take part in extra-curricular activities and games and sports.
We all need to come together and work for the developing the students who are the future pillars of the society.
The function was presided by Prof RK Hemakumar, Dean of Students Welfare, Manipur University.
A souvenir was also released on the occasion.
Later, students from various colleges took part in the poetry recitation competition which was held on the theme "Nationalism and Patriotism" .
