Paban's 'Phum-Shang' bags national award

Imphal, March 24 2015:
Manipuri filmmaker Haobam Paban Kumar has bagged the best investigative film award - Rajat Kamal and a cash prize of Rs.50,000/- (each to the Producer & Director) for the film Phum-Shang (floating life).
The film was directed by Paban and produced by Films Division.
Phum-Shang is a film that captures life in and around Loktak, the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India characterized by its unique floating biomass 'phumdi', the primary source of livelihood for the fishermen who live there.

Paban's film covers not only the rich and abundant bio-diversity of the Loktak area but also delves into serious issues as fallout of development induced poverty.
Haobam Paban Kumar studied at Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata.
His film AFSPA 1958 won several awards including the FIPRESCI prize at Mumbai International Film Festival, 2006 .
Paban's films have been screened at various festivals around the world.
His film AFSPA 1958 and Mr INDIA also earlier won National Film Awards.
