Senapati, August 20 2014:
Unable to bear with the apathy of the Government towards their grievances, Chairmen and secretaries of Laii Circle Villages have decided to take up the onus of repairing the only lifeline of these villages i.e.Tadubi-Tungjoy-Laii (TT- Laii Road), which is a stretch of just 27kms from Liyai Khunou to Laii Shirafii on 25th August 2014 .
Villagers of Laii Circle under Paomata Sub-Division in Senapati District bordering Phek District of Nagaland in the West and North, and Ukhrul District in the East will take up the road repairing work.
The road passes through a cluster of six villages namely Laii Village, Chingmai Khullen, Chingmai Khunou, Katafiimai, Laii Shirafii and New Laii, which are situated at the Northern part of Manipur with the nearest connecting point to NH from Laii Village at Tadubi.
Despite proximity to well-connected Villages on other side of border (Nagaland), Laii circle has been under continuous negligence from the Manipur State Govt.agencies in all developmental works particularly in connectivity of road.
Due to the pathetic condition of the road, Laii circle villagers face immense difficulties in commuting to the nearest Town to avail basic amenities of life including taking the sick to the hospital.
Adding to the woes of the villagers, vehicle owners are unwilling to ply on this road as the pathetic condition of the road could cause damage to their vehicles apart from the risks involved in negotiating the life threatening twists and turns of the road.
So, the villagers have been left with no other option other than to shell out exorbitant fare rate for transportation in case of emergency.
