Covid claims four more lives, newly infects 49

Imphal, November 13 2021:
As the threat of Covid-19 persists despite showing downward trend in the viral infection chart, the infectious disease claimed four more lives and infected 49 more in the last 24 hours.
The 49 new positive cases reported on Saturday were from among 1767 samples tested, thus registering a positivity rate of 2.77 per cent against 2.88 per cent recorded on Friday.
The four death cases took the cumulative tally of fatalities to 1946 .
One each of them were from Imphal West and Chandel while the other two were residents of Imphal East district.
One of the four victims had received second dose of Covid-19 vaccine and the remaining three were unvaccinated.
Out of the 16 districts, only six reported fresh Covid cases on Saturday with Imphal West reporting highest cases at 31 .
In terms of positivity rate also, Imphal West district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 5.6 per cent while Chandel district recorded lowest positivity rate at 1.4 per cent.
Churachandpur, Jiribam, Kakching, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl, Senapati, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal and Thoubal districts did not report any new positive cases.
The active caseload rose to 799, out of which 62 (7.76 per cent) are in home isolation.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability.
So far, the state has recorded 95,032 positive cases and 1572 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month reported 701 hew positive cases and 25 death cases out of which 385 new cases and 15 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 49 new positive cases (22 male & 27 female) are from among the general population and their samples were confirmed at RIMS (9), JNIMS (5) and other testing centres (35) .
The positive cases are from Imphal East (13), Imphal West (31), Bishnupur (2), Chandel (1), Noney (1) and Ukhrul (1) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 36 persons were discharged from home isolation (1), RIMS (2), JNIMS (5) and CCCs (28) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,24,432 (general population - 1,20,082 and CAPF personnel - 4,350) .
Number Of recovered cases is 1,21,687 (general population - 117,358 and CAPF personnel - 4,329) and number of active cases is 799 (general population - 783 and CAPF personnel - 16).The recovery rate is 97.79 per cent.
A total of 524 D-type and 23 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Whereas, 8343 vaccine doses were administered on Friday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated persons to 12,59,533 out of which 7,89,245 are fully vaccinated.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,467), Imphal East (27,577), Thoubal (9460), Churachandpur (10,163), Kangpokpi (2783), Tamenglong (3283), Bishnupur (9176), Senapati (2239), Ukhrul (2966), Kakching (6409), Chandel (2344), Noney (1070), Tengnoupal (1070), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (939) and Pherzawl (464) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (647), Imphal East (463), Thoubal (176), Churachandpur (162), Kangpokpi (6l), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (190), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (42), Kakching (112), Chandel (40), Noney (4) Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7) Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 40,101 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,616 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,47,717 tests per million population against the national average of 4,45,003 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1767 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 2.77 per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 8.96 per cent.
