Imphal, November 06 2009:
Two youths allegedly trying to extort money from a grocery by handing over a demand note of Rs 1,50,000 thrashed by locals at Sangakpam Bazar this evening at about 6 pm and later handed over to Heingang police.
The two youths were identified as Kh Puchi Paomei (18) son of Kho Paomei of Phaibok Khullen, Senapati and Loveson Paomei (21) son of Misao Paomei of Ngari Khul of same district with the former.
They were currently residing at Imphal Paomei Colony.
Reports said that they entered to the grocery shop with the demand to a letter head of the United Naga Council (UNC) with a strong pressure to the shopkeeper to pay some amount first to them.
While they were threatening the shopkeepers, locals nearby the shop caught them and beaten up blue and black before handing over to the police, the report added.
