CCPur, November 06 2009:
A day after the Health Minister visited the Churachandpur District Hospital, Health Commissioner Vumlunmang Vualnam, IAS, Project Director MACS, PK Jha along with Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Jacintha Lazarus visited Churachandpur District Hospital today.
The officials visited the blood bank, the defunct drugs de-addiction centre, operation Theatre and water supply of the District hospital.
During the visits, the health commissioner told the Hospital authority to inaugurate the new building, which is under construction, by December 1.Vumlunmang also asked the DC to lease fund through the DRDA for the construction of a water supply (ring well) for the hospital.
it may be mentioned here that ever since its inception in the year 1984, the Churachandpur District Hospital seems to remain only in name.
Basic needs of the hospital such as Blood Bank, equipments are lacking apart from the lack of hygienic maintenance of the hospital.
One of the patients' parties in the Children ward of the hospital told this correspondent that even toilets meant for the Children Ward are not unhygienic.
Phenyl is not even sprayed daily and so one could smell the stinking of the toilet from distance.
In such unhygienic conditions, those who attend the patients are now even prone to become ill.
It is also worth to mention that the state Government has already sanctioned Rs.3 crore for the upgradation of the District hospital.
Health Minister Ph Parijat, during his visit to the hospital yesterday, said that Rs 4 crore would be sanctioned for the improvement of the hospital and its infrastructures.
