Governor, GOC extend greetings on Mahavir Jayanti

Governor Gurbachan Jahat has greeted the people of Manipur and specialy the Jain brethren on the sacred and auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, 2012 .
In his greeting, the Governor observed that an outstanding apostle of peace and non-violence, Lord Mahavir showed the path to salvation through love, compassion, mercy, benevolence, forgiveness, non-violence and renunciation of materialistic world.
Lord Mahavir wished to build a new world order based on equality of mankind transcending the barriers of caste, creed and religion and preached an eternal message of peaceful co-existence of humanity as a whole.
While celebrating the birth of Lord Mahavir, along with paying obeisance to this crusader of peace, we should pledge to follow the spiritual and ethnical precepts which are an essential feature of this festival, the Governor said, and exhorted the people saying "let us dedicate themselves to the ideals, principles and eternal values espoused by Him, so that the celebration of Mahavir Jayanti is truly meaningful.
On the other hand, GOC Red Shield Division Major General Binoy Poonnen has extended greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, an apostle of truth and righteousness.
"May this day brings peace and enduring happiness among the people.
I pray for harmony and prosperity in the state on this solemn day", the GOC wished.
