'State, Society and Governance' of Seram Neken released

A book entitled "State, Society and Governance" written by Seram Niken, Columnist of Hueiyen Lanpao (English edition) was formally released at Manipur Press Club here today.
Published by Ashangba Communication, Imphal, the book is reproduction of fifty articles on different issues already appeared in some newspapers.
Out of the fifty articles, 42 have been published in Hueiyen Lanpao (English edition) and the remaining 8 articles in other daily papers of Imphal.
The book releasing function was graced by Prof N Khagendra, Convenor of Manipur Advisory Board, Sahitya Academy, New Delhi and Jodhachandra Sanasam, President of AMMIK as Chief Guest and President respectively.
N Ibungochoubi, Executive Editor of Manipur Mail, Dr Chinglen Maisnam, Economist and Dr Dhanabir Laishram, Social Scientist were also present on the occasion as Guests of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof N Khagendra said that the State's budget which was introduced in the State Assembly held recently and later passed by the House unanimously provides room for argument since a small amount have been earmarked for certain sectors while a huge and unnecessary amount have been fixed for certain sectors of the state government.
Echoing the same thing, Dr Chinglen Maisnam expressed unhappiness over the reflection of the budget with regard to development of culture and sports.
The motive of the state government in assigning a meager amount in these sectors needs to be discussed in depth.
N Ibungochoubi, speaking on the occasion, said that the subjects and issues Seram Neken have taken up undoubtedly invited a serious rethinking from all as they profoundly reflect the socio-political and contemporary challenges facing the state today.
