6th Mega Manipur Marathon: S Premila bags 4th title in row

Imphal, March 25 2012:
S Premila of SAI RC recorded her fourth consecutive title triumph in the Mega Manipur Marathon competition by completing the half-marathon course (Approx 21 kms) in an hour 22.20 minutes while Th Sanjit Luwang, who represented Army sports Institute, Pune regained the men's title.
The 6th edition of the competition held today was organised by united People's Front Manipur under the aegis of Athletic Association Manipur.
Participated by 2000 athletes, including a total of 15 from the States of Assam and Andhra Pradesh, Premila finished ahead of her nearest rival Ch Sonia, also of SAI RC, by 2 minutes and 6 seconds in the women's competition while L Bijeshwori of Chajing Karam secured the third position in 2 hrs 27.44 minutes.
Mina Bordoloi of Assam, Mk Minarasi of Yairipok, M Ibeton (Haorang Sabal), LD Neitinhoi Chiru (Nungsai Chiru), Kh Roshani (Awang Leikinthabi) and S Sonia (Haoreibi Mayai Leikai) ranked fourth to 10th position.

Sanjit Luwang, who won the men's competition in 1 hour 02.58 seconds, had also won the event in the previous two editions.
Bipul Laharia of Assam (1:06.36 hr) trailed Sanjit in second position while M samananda of Haoreibi Makha Leikai (1:07.09) finished third and Md Iqbal Hussain of Andhra Pradesh secured the fourth position.
Manipur's Md Abid Ahmed, Th Santosh, Ranjit Singh, T Dharmendra, Umakanta and Md Nawaz Khan respectively occupied from fifth to 10th position.
The competition was flagged off by Commissioner (Art & Culture) RK Nimai from Khuman Lampak Main Stadium and culminated at the same venue after criss-crossing Chingmeirong, RIMS Road, Sagolband, singjamei, Kongba, Khurai Lamlong, etc .
