IGAR (S) flags in NIT team

Maj Gen U K Gurung, YSM, IGAR (S) today warmy in a "Flag In" Ceremony at Mantripukhri welcomed a team of students and teachers who were on a National Integration Tour hosted by 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under HQ IGAR(S) .
The 15 day long tour comprising of 20 students and five teachers from the remote areas of Thoubal District in Manipur went to Delhi and Agra during March 9 and 24, stated a press release of PRO IGAR (S).
Maj Gen U K Gurung, YSM, IGAR (S) received the jubilant children and the accompanying teachers.
A large number of Civil Dignitaries were also present during the ceremony.
The IGAR (S) took a keen interest in sharing the stories of the tour with the students and more so regarding the ineffaceable moments and the interactive sessions they had in Delhi.
The aim of the educational tour was to provide the much needed exposure to young children about varied developments that are taking place in the rest of the country and to introduce them to the cultures, people and landscapes which make up the Nation.
During their visit to Delhi, the children interacted with many distinguished personalities including Defence Minister, A K Antony.
The tour also visited Agra and saw the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikh.
While at Delhi, the students visited the Parliament House, Nehru Planetarium, Rail Museum, Delhi Haat, the Marwah Studios at Film City Noida, Old Fort, India Gate, Delhi Metro, PVR Cinemas and Me Donald's to name a few of the myriad aspects organized for the children during the tour.
The tour in real terms provided the students the opportunity to learn about various cultures and also reflect on the rich history and cultures as also develop interpersonal relationships.
During his interaction with the students, the IGAR (s) exposed out that the children are the budding future of Manipur and Assam Rifles is committed to provide them the best exposure to broaden their horizon.
During the ceremony the children were presented with a laminated collage of the memorable moments they shared during the tour and a CD containing the cherished memories for posterity, the release added.
