UNLF warns rapists with death penalty

In the wake of gang-rape of a middle-aged woman by four persons including two IRB jawans, the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has taken serious note over frequent incidents of rape and crimes against women in the state and warned of awarding capital punishment to rapists in future.
The outfit has also announced its decision of reviving its operation for women's rights which was active in 90s.In a statement, Senior Publicity Secretary of the group Ksh Yoiheiba expressed serious concern over rising crimes against women including rape of minors, handicapped and mentally retarded ones in the past few years.
Comparing such crimes against women with the acts of security forces in the past who rape and disgrace the women of the state at the slightest chance, the outfit observed that such heinous crimes are misleading Manipur from the path of development.
In a world where, the people are raising their voices for equal rights for men and women in every sphere, such beastly acts should have no place in this world.
Coming down on the four rapists who are in police custody, UNLF stated that even if the low court releases them, UNLF will award befitting punishments against them if found guilty after a thorough probe.
If they are actually innocent, then they should claim their innocence to the party as soon as they come out of the custody.
Informing that any victim can lodge their complaints with the party for justice, UNLF also appealed to the people for cooperate in this regard.
