The Zeliangrong Students' Union Jiri Area (ZSUJA) has flayed the conduct of 5 MR jawans posted at Makru from imposing unjustified taxes on vehicles plying along NH 37 in recent days.
Convenor of ZSUJA Lungang Kamei rued that the very excess act of MR personnel can be termed as an open loot and urged the authority concerned to discipline the erring jawans and to initiate punishment or else an intense agitation would be launched soon.
Meanwhile, at least 660 goods laden vehicles have left Jiribam for Imphal along NH 37 being escorted by personnel of IRB.
The goods vehicles included 301 trucks of FCI rice, 233 trucks of cement, seven trucks of medicine and other vehicles carrying essential commodities.
