Imphal, September 24 2018:
KCP-MC (Nongdrenkhomba Group) has declared that they will decide what they must do if the State Government does not arrange a meeting between the group and the Chief Minister within five days, befitting action is not taken up against the Second OC of Kumbi police station and all cases registered against cadres of the outfit are not withdrawn.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, the outfit's commander in-chief Ningthoujam Nongdrenkhomba pointed out that the Chief Minister earlier announced cases registered against militant cadres who have joined peace process would be withdrawn.
The State Government has already issued an order in line with the Chief Minister's announcement and CID has been carrying out verification work.
Contrary to what was agreed between the outfit and the Government, the Government has been planning to detain cadres of the party after registering fresh FIRs, Nongdrenkhomba said.
Kangabam Samananda, a member of the group was summoned by the 2nd OC of Kumbi police station on September 8 and Samananda was told that fresh FIR would be registered and a new investigation would be launched into an incident that took place in 2016.This has created anxiety among all members of the group who have returned to the mainstream.
The matter deserves immediate attention of the Government and the Government must spell out its position on the matter.
Claiming that the Chief Minister assured that all the members of the group who have returned to the mainstream would be properly rehabilitated, Nongdrenkhomba lamented that nothing has been done till date for rehabilitation even though it has been over one year.
Even though the group has sought an appointment with the Chief Minister twice/thrice, there has been no response till date, he decried.
