Imphal, September 24 2018:
The All Manipur Mid-Day Meal Workers' Union has sought attention of the authorities concerned demanding immediate increase of wages for mid-day meal workers.
Claiming that 95 per cent of the mid-day meal workers are underprivileged women, the union in its statement claimed that the workers receive Rs 1000 per month as remunerations, that too for only ten months a year.
The Government has failed to enhance the remuneration of the workers, despite its promise made in the 45th Indian Labour Conference in May 2013, it claimed.
It claimed that the Government, on September 11, assured to increase the wages for Anganwadi workers, helpers, mini Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers but the mid-day meal workers have been ignored till date.
The union further appealed- the authorities concerned to consider the grievances of the workers and take up remedial step at the earliest.
