Minorities Rights Day observed

The Manipur State Minority Commission, which looks after the welfare of the minority communities in the state, needs to be strengthened and all the required staffs will be recruited for its smooth functioning, Chief Minister O Ibobi has assured.
Speaking as Chief Guest at the Minorities Rights Day celebration held at Kangla Hall under the aegis of Manipur State Minority Commission, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that the Indian Constitution looks at all the communities with an equal eye.
As such, all the communities should be equally developed.
Likewise, in the state of Manipur, the minorities are given enough reservations in all aspects for their development.
Pointing out that the State Minority Commission needs to be strengthened, the Chief Minister assured that all efforts will be made to uplift the status of the minority communities in the state.
The Madrassa in the state will also be given recognition under the Education department.
The Chief Minister observed that the people of the state should be made aware of the various programmes taken up by the state government for the welfare of the minority communities.
Attending the function as one of the Guests of Honour, Helim Choudhuri, Chairperson of Manipur State Minority Commission, drew the attention of the Chief Minister and said that the State Minority Commission lacks staff strength and it has been causing a big problem in executing its work.
There are at present only 2-3 staffs in the Commission and there is the need to recruit more, he pointed out.
Speaking at the occasion, Project Director of Minority and OBC Economic Development Society, Allaudin Khan observed that many welfare schemes for the minorities are set to be taken up under the PM's new 15 point welfare programme.
The function was presided over by Minister Allaudin Khan.
MLA Helaluddin, Dr MS Ningomba, Member Manipur State Minorities Commission and N Devendra were also present during the celebration as Guests of Honour.
