Striking govt employees to have extended 'holiday'

Imphal, December 18 2011:
Changing the strategy of the ongoing cease work strike, striking employees in all the departments and offices under the government of Manipur would now enjoy extended holiday.
A decision to this effect has been arrived at during a joint meeting of the executive bodies of JAC of AMTUC & AMGEO, Manipur; Manipur Secretariat Services' Association (MSSA) and Manipur State Pensioners' Union (MSPU) held yesterday.
After a minute discussion, the meeting convened with Acting President of JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO Dr M Rajendra Singh, President of MSSA Th Muhindro Singh and President of MSPU H Yaima Singh as presidium members, decided to change the strategy of the ongoing cease work strike and resolved to declare Holiday of all departments and offices under the government of Manipur, informed a joint statement signed by Secretary General of JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO Ch Chandramani Singh, General Secretary of MSSA Purujit Lairikyengbam and General Secretary of MSPU L Tombi Singh.
Accordingly, all the departments and offices will remain closed with effect from December 19 until a solution is brought between the strikers and the government of Manipur or until a notification is issued in this regard, whichever is earlier, the joint statement announced.
