ILP protest continues in Thoubal

Many parts of Thoubal district experienced agitation on Sunday to demand implementation of ILPS and stringent punishment to police personnel involved in the killing of student Sapam Robinhood.
Sit-in-protests were held across the districts where protesters blocked roads and organized rallies.
Kakching market was shut and hundreds of protesters staged sit-in protest at Ibudhou Naohallai Laibung.
The protest was organized under the aegis of Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association, Kakching and JCILPS Student Wing.
The demonstrators vowed to continue extending support to the ILP movement spearheaded by Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS).
The placards held by the protesters said implement ILPS immediately, punish all police personnel involved in the killing of student protester Robinhood and Kakching public will always support the ILP agitation.

A spokesperson of JCILPS said 10 student protesters were injured on Saturday in police crackdown when they were blocking the National Highway-102 as part of the ILP protest.
He condemned the police for their brutality against student protesters who were seriously beaten up by police.
Meanwhile, students from different schools took out a silent rally at Kairembikhok in support of ILPS organized by Kairembikhok Student's Union & Club (KSUC), Kairembikhok.
Students from Progressive English School, Lamding, K M Blooming Higher Secondary School, Khangabok, IRE,Wangjing, K M English School,Salungpham, Kairembikhok Primary School, Salungpham High School, and New Public Higher Secondary School,Khangabok took part in the rally.
A torch rally by womenfolk was also organized in Irengband, Hawairou and Mairembam last night.
ILP agitation continued at Elangkhangpokpi, Kakching Khunou, Lamjao, Langmeidong and Wangjing Keithel.
Protesters and police used slingshots against each other at Wangjing Keithel.
