Imphal, July 12 2015 :
Joining the popular movement for enforcement of Inner Line Permit System or enactment of a similar mechanism, protest demonstrations were staged today at Keirao Urup Thongkhong under the aegis of the Pangal Political Forum (PPF) Manipur and the Keirao Kendra Minority Muslim Development Organisation.
Apart from staging a sit-in-protest, effigy of Chief Minister O Ibobi was burnt at Keirao Urup Thongkhong Keithel.
Effigies of Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir, MOBC Parliamentary Secretary Md Amin Shah and MLA Fazur Rahim were also buried on the bank of Iril river.
PPF Manipur spokesman MI Khan said that the Chief Minister's effigy was burnt and the Deputy Chief Minister's effigy was buried for their apathy towards the common issue for protection of indigenous people.
It is rather unfortunate that none of the three Muslim MLAs bothered to raise the issue of ILPS in the just concluded Assembly session.
That was why, their effigies were also buried, added MI Khan.
Indigenous people of Manipur would find themselves in a grave situation like the one indigenous Tripuris are facing today in case incessant influx of non-locals is not checked in time, MI Khan said.
He also condemned the killing of Sapam Robinhood as well as detention of pro-ILPS activists.
