Imphal, July 12 2015 :
National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) has urged the Government to take immediate steps to patch up the 'violent attitude' of Manipur Police for easing their relations with the agitating public who are now demanding implementation of ILPS.
A NIPCO release stated that the current ILP agitation is not meant for individuals, but for all the indigenous people of the land where the State Police belong to.
It appealed to the police to exercise maximum restraint when they confront the protesters who are their brothers and sisters fighting for a legitimate cause and said the future of the State will be doomed if such resistance persists at this crucial point of time.
The committee also said the Government should never try to let loose the police with more legitimate role to repress the public agitation.
Be sympathetic to the protesters and act with maximum restraint while handling strikers, NIPCO appealed to the police.
